When flying to Costa Rica, there are two airports to consider; Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) and Daniel Oduber Airport (LIR) in Liberia.
“SJO”/Juan Santamaria International Airport, is located in Alajuela Costa Rica, 20 minutes outside of downtown San Jose. SJO is the most convenient of the two airports, offering the most Int’l flights with the best local connecting flight service. SJO has two times been named “the third-best airport in Latin America – Caribbean by the Airports Council International (ACI)”
Located in the north of Costa Rica, Daniel Oduber Airport (LIR) is the second busiest in the country and the ninth busiest in all of Central America, this airport facilitates access to destinations in the northwestern Guanacaste region.
Although most flights land at SJO/Juan Santamaría, an increasing number of flights land at LIR/Daniel Oduber International Airport.
